Just a reminder, I started a Patreon and I need your help. This year, creating art for myself has been a little difficult. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy creating for customers but I have a ton of ideas that I really need to get out there. Creating for customers is essential for taking care of my family but I would love the time to create new pieces and projects for myself. With this Patreon and your support, I will be able to really focus on my personal projects. You can read more about what I am trying to accomplish, here.
I want to thank you for your support this year. Whether you showed up to a show or event, purchased a post card or a full piece or something as simple as sent me a message saying that you’re thinking about me, I appreciate it all. You helped to make 2017 a pretty good year.
December 18th marked what would have been Steve Biko’s 71st birthday. Last year, I travelled to South Africa where I had an opportunity to learn more about this revolutionary figure. Biko was a tireless activist against apartheid in South Africa. Following his arrest and brutal murder, Biko became a martyr against this oppressive system. You can read more about Steve Biko here.
Just My Thoughts
What can I say, 2017 has been an interesting year, to say the least. An unhinged tyrant is President, the NFL showed us who they really are when team owners blackballed Colin Kaepernick this season and we found out that Hollywood is trash. Even with all of this, I remain hopeful. Colin Kaepernick’s protest has been effective, no matter how much the media tries to spin it. The number of people resisting Trump’s lunacy is growing and hashtags like #MeToo have given victims of sexual assault a platform to be heard. While this year has been a tough year, these things give me hope for 2018. I’m excited to move into the new year.
To those that have donated so far, thank you! Your donations will go a long way to help me get some of these ideas out to the public. I want to take a moment to recognize those patrons who are at the $25 level.
